Learn to Build a Village

The Sonoma County site built 60 heated, personal shelters with Pallet. Fill out our form to learn how they built a village in just 10 days.

Over 200 people were facing homelessness near the Joe Rodota Trail in Sonoma County, California. It was the largest encampment in the county’s history.

So Sonoma County got to work. Declaring homelessness as a state of emergency allowed the county to turn a neighborhood lot into a transitional housing village – in just 10 days. The site has 60 heated, personal shelters, 24-hour case management, hourly shuttle service, pet-friendly spaces, and more.

Honestly, it's such an inspirational location... They have an ability to go in their own little space, lock their belongings, and leave. This allows them to go to job interviews, to go to work, and access services.

– Lynda Hopkins, Sonoma County Board of Supervisors
